BIA/Kelsey’s New ‘Deals 3D’ Conference Spotlights
the Future of Daily Deals and Group Buying
Speakers include senior execs from AT&T Interactive, BuyWithMe,
Facebook, Foursquare, Loopt, MasterCard, Microsoft, Savings.com and
Shopkick.
CHANTILLY, Va. (June 14, 2011) -
The daily deals and group buying space is one
of the most talked about segments of local media and marketing today.
Facebook, Google and AT&T are among the latest entrants to this
rapidly developing marketplace of some 500 players, which include destination
sites; credit card companies facilitating online transactions; and
white-label providers working with local media providers such as directory
companies, newspapers, and radio and television operators. BIA/Kelsey
will gather the industry July 18-19 in San Francisco for Deals 3D:
The New Local Value Chain (www.biakelsey.com/Deals3D) to look beyond
the hype and examine the future of the deals ecosystem.
“The deals space is so hot right now, yet there are many unanswered
questions about it,” said Deals 3D Conference Cochairman Peter
Krasilovsky, vice president and program director, Marketplaces, BIA/Kelsey. “We
know it will be big, but what will it look like 18 months from now?
Which companies are best positioned to succeed when the crowded marketplace
begins sorting out the winners from the wannabes? What role does local
search play in the changing nature of finding deals? These are the
topics we’ll be focused on at Deals 3D.”
“Many of the players in the deals space — even major companies
like Facebook and Google — have not enjoyed the level of success
of market leaders Groupon and LivingSocial,” said Jon Sofield,
Deals 3D conference cochairman and vice president, business development,
The Dealmap. “At Deals 3D we will examine the challenges and
opportunities for other deals providers to gain market share.”
The Deals 3D agenda features more than 40 of the most innovative local leaders
in the daily deals, group buying and flash sales marketplace. Keynote speakers
include Gary Kearns, group executive, information services, MasterCard; David
Krantz, president and CEO, AT&T Interactive; and Lexi Reese, director,
local sales, Facebook.
Other featured speakers include Charles Dyer, director, mobile, local and
commerce, Microsoft; Tristan Walker, director, Foursquare; Sam Altman, CEO,
Loopt; Andrew Moss, chief strategy officer, BuyWithMe; Evan Tana, vice president,
product management, Shopkick; and Loren Bendele, CEO, Savings.com.
Earlier this year, BIA/Kelsey forecast consumer spending on deal-a-day offers
to grow from $873 million in 2010 to $3.9 billion in 2015. The conference program
will examine this market opportunity with a focus on the industry’s top
innovators, new entrants and the investment environment. Session highlights
include:
- Follow the Money: Payments, Rewards & Redemptions
- The Science and Art of ‘Localizing’ National Deals
- Adding ‘Deals’ to a Local Bag of Tricks
- Leveraging the Power of Local Media Promotion
- Deals Act Two: Mobile & Social
- Merchant Services: The ‘One and Done’ Is Not Enough
